Interior Paint Color Combinations


When it comes to interior paint color combinations, there are trends and personal preferences. From exotic to neutrals, colors are bringing a special touch to your home. The choice is all yours!

First thing to consider is the entire home ‘color theme’. Choose a stile. Don’t mix and match, the result won’t please you. While it is great when each room has its own distinctive personality, they all should fit in the big picture, with balance and harmony.



Some trends are going for complimentary colors: one light, one bright. Check the paint color wheel if you are not sure how to pair the colors. Contrasting colors will create sometimes very interesting results. Your kitchen is the best place to experiment with complimentary colors.

When considering interior paint color combinations, remember that color is not only a joy for your eye, but is also affecting you emotionally. A color, for example, can support your healing, or concentration, sound sleep or emotional life. Choosing non beneficial, too bold or to plane interior paint color combinations will affect your, in a negative way. Even though here is not the place to go deeper into a subject like color therapy, it is probably a good idea to consider it, and get full benefits when choosing your interior paint color combinations.


Choosing You Interior Paint Color Combinations

  • Green is a healing color; green colors represent nature and is promoting relaxation. If if you prefer a neutral color, you can go for sage or olive. They are great and combine well with many colors. White trims are going very well, adding a nice contrast
  • Blue relax and increase productivity. It is a recommended color for home office and even kids room. There are many shades of blue to choose from, depending on your needs. Probably is better to avoid blue shades in the kitchen, and favor warmer colors (blue is suppressing appetite). It is very nice combined with pure white or browns
  • Grey can go long way, allowing multiple color combinations. It is definitely a neutral color with the benefit of enhancing creativity
  • Brownis a comfort color, promoting the feeling of security. Working well with many colors, from neutrals to warm, browns will create a surprising effect when paired with a light blue shade
  • Yellow: either you love it, or hate it! Yellows are is bright, sunny and energizing. Will also make people feel more anxious. If you are a person who loves it, then use it. If not sure, better go with a different color scheme
  • Intense shades of red, orange, purple or black are good only for accent walls or surprise effects; can be risky and overwhelming when used for the entire room (black will make the room smaller)
  • Terra Cotta is warm, cozy and comforting. Great for kitchen, living room or fireplace areas
  • Lavender and pink are beautiful especially in young girls rooms. Pink is helping to reduce stress and is usually considered a feminine color
